About Silver City, NM

A city named after a historic silver deposit

Named after a silver deposit found in the 19th century, Silver City is a small New Mexican town of about 10,000 residents. “Buyers move here for the people, location, weather and the great outdoors,” says Alfred Sedillo, Silver City Town Clerk. Daniel Cook, resident and Associate Broker with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, agrees that the weather is the city’s best feature. “We get four gentle seasons,” he says. “We’re a little out of the way, so it’s not the biggest tourist destination, but we have the Gila National Cliff Dwelling and the National Park.”
