A spot of blue in the desert
Sparks Marina is a spot of blue in a desert landscape. Situated at the eastern edge of Nevada’s fifth-largest city, this neighborhood revolves around a natural aquifer popular for boating, fishing and swimming. “Some apartments and houses are built right on the marina with canal access,” says Kristen Gil, a broker at Dickson Realty with over two decades of real estate experience in the Reno/Sparks area. “Sparks Marina has convenient freeway access and lots of great shopping and restaurants,” says Gil. Residents live here full-time and also rent out their properties, “but it never totally empties out,” says Gil. From residential relaxation to industry, shopping and dining, eastern Reno’s life revolves around the Sparks Marina.
Fishing and frolicking at Sparks Marina Park
Enjoying the outdoors is a significant part of daily life in Sparks Marina. This community is known for its commanding views of surrounding natural beauty, whether it’s the sun setting over Mount Rose, blue skies reflected in the lake or the Reno skyline waiting in the distance. “The marina has a beach, a well-used walking path, a park and fishing access,” says Gil. “The lake allows nonmotorized watersports, like paddleboats and kayaks. It has spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.” Sparks Marina Park not only invites boaters to relax on its still waters, but also features a playground and a dog park to entertain both human and canine visitors.
Sparks Marina is popular amongst fly fishermen.

Waterfront homes at the heart of Sparks
Sparks Marina is a primarily retail-focused neighborhood, with great portions of the community consisting of shopping centers and industrial buildings. However, diverse housing options can be found ringing around the lake and sitting among the Marina’s condo, apartment and manufactured home communities. Ranch-style homes with attached garages can sell for between $400,000 and $500,000, while larger loft homes with private docks can sell for up to $800,000.

Food and fun at Legends Outlet Mall
Sparks Marina is just as much a center of shopping as it is of sailing. This neighborhood is surrounded by major retail outlets like the Iron Horse Shopping Center and the popular Outlets at Legends open-air shopping complex. “Homes are within walking distance of Legends Outlet Mall and Casino,” says Gil. Legends has everything from a Target and a Gap clothing store to restaurants, the Legends Bay Casino and an IMAX movie theatre. This shopping center is right across Sparks Boulevard from Wild Island Family Adventure Park, where visitors can have a thrill with its waterslides, mini-golf and laser mazes. When it comes to dining out, “there are fantastic restaurants and coffee shops with marina views,” says Gil. Great Full Gardens offers healthy selections such as sesame crusted teriyaki ahi filet; Lighthouse Coffee offers a caffeine fix by the water; and Water Bar serves upscale steaks, salads and cocktails on the patio.
Visitors to Sparks Marina will be delighted to find a Ferris wheel in the middle of Scheels.
Wild Island Family Adventure Park is the only waterpark in the Reno/Sparks area.
