A rural home between Greenville and downtown Spartanburg
Traveling to Moore via Hobbysville Road, the first few stops past the railroad are a Baptist church and an industrial facility, followed by a scattering of classic farmhouses and solid brick ranch homes. Despite the rural setting, Keller Williams Realtor Michelle Manion says when she pictures this town, all she thinks about is development. "It's actually a quickly growing area," she says. Much of this is due to Moore's affordability relative to places like Greenville — and that it's smack dab in the middle of that city and downtown Spartanburg. "A lot of Moore is centralized around Highway 290, and as you get closer to Duncan there's more happening. It's like they started on that end and worked their way down," says Michael Cole, the Marketing Manager for DRB Homes. For now, there's still a country feeling. "It's private but convenient, like a little pocket area. At the same time, you are 10 minutes away from the rest of upstate South Carolina," Cole says.

New homes in Tyger Ridge and Pleasant Falls
Moore caters to a wide variety of residential needs. "It's a mix of old and new coming together," says Betty Pearson, a broker with Solid Ground Properties. "Everything from ranch homes to farmhouses to Craftsmans and townhouses." There is plenty of land to go around, with several lots climbing to nearly an acre or sometimes much more. Spacious fields separate homes, but new construction is starting to fill the gaps. DRB homes is one of the area's developers, with Tyger Ridge and Pleasant Falls being two of Moore's newest subdivisions. Tyger Ridge is a townhouse community named for its proximity to Tyger River. "You can actually walk from home down a trail to the water," Cole says. The development's neat row of homes has built-in garages and shiplap exteriors painted in burnt orange, maroon, navy-blue and tan. Pleasant Ridge has detached homes of the same style. Some neighborhoods, like The Collier Ridge development, offer pools and playgrounds. Three-bedroom homes in Moore often settle in the $200,000 to $300,000 range. Newer construction can head into the $400,000s. The most expensive properties are in the $700,000 range, which might fetch a private pool and over 4,000 square feet.
