Beloved community with historic charm
Browne's Addition is one of Spokane's oldest neighborhoods. The historic enclave, often referred to simply as “Browne’s,” was initially built as a suburb for the city's wealthiest residents. Decorative late 19th-century houses, a beloved green space and proximity to many of the city center's amenities contribute to the neighborhood's charm.
“It’s definitely one of the most architecturally diverse neighborhoods in town,” says Spokane native Mike Bass, managing broker of Century 21 Beutler & Associates. “You have historical homes, contemporary homes, condos, plus some lovely old mansions around Coeur d’Alene Park, which basically serves as the heart of the neighborhood.”
Brownes Addition sits only a few minutes away from downtown Spokane.

The local housing market features a diverse array of styles, including ornate Victorians built before the turn of the 19th century, midcentury Arts and Crafts bungalows and spacious Tudor Revival homes. The Patsy Clark Mansion, a Mediterranean-inspired estate built for one of the city's wealthiest founders, exemplifies the neighborhood's historic character. More modern condos in the area cost around $200,000 to $350,000, while townhouses cost $350,000 to $500,000. The average Craftsman bungalow costs around $450,000 to $600,000, while maintained Victorians can cost between $700,000 and $1 million.
