Living in the land between the lakes
What was once land for horses and cattle is now Steiner Ranch, a large master-planned community set between lakes Travis and Austin. Natalia Roush, a Realtor with Realty Austin lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and says the walkability gives it a European feel. “They designed the neighborhood very well,” she says. “There are areas where you can go and get an ice cream or have a lovely coffee on the porch. Commercial is blended with the residential.” Thanks to lakeside views, multiple parks and highly rated schools, the population of the 4,600-acre Steiner Ranch increased about 50% between 2010 and 2020.

Quality builds with personal touches
Steiner Ranch has more than 45 subdivisions. “They were very selective about the construction,” Roush says. “With the builders, it was quality one way or another. There were no cheaper builders allowed which I think preserves the neighborhood.” The community features large contemporary homes; brick, limestone, and sun-bleached concrete facades with manicured lawns set on tidy streets with sidewalks. The ranchers and two-story cottages in Steiner Ranch also provide residents with lots of space and natural light. While each subdivision maintains a sense of uniformity, homes have personal touches such as French Colonial- or Dutch Colonial-style windows and steep, overhanging roofs with cross gables. Prices range from about $600,000 to $2,000,000, with some larger estate going for around $7,000,000.
