Stockton's quiet residential community in Stonewood
On the northern side of Stockton, Stonewood is a quiet residential community that still feels centrally located. “It’s on the quieter side of Stockton, so there’s not a ton of things going on, but that’s part of the vibe,” says local school secretary Jennifer Plemons. “Stonewood is a more reserved part of town, but it’s a nice neighborhood for a more quiet side of life.” Residents can enjoy the rambling residential streets while still being just minutes from shopping centers and parks.
Unique ranches create an eclectic feel in Stonewood
While most homes in Stonewood are ranches, each house has a unique color scheme, detailing and style, so each home stands out. Stonewood’s streets are wider than most Stockton neighborhoods, with enough room for multiple cars. While residents can use space to park on both sides of the street, most residents have front-facing two-car garages. Instead, the wide roads and occasional trees create an open, spacious feel. Sidewalks are flush with the road, lining both sides of the streets in Stonewood. Homes here typically list between $450,000 and $625,000.

At Dentoni Park, walking paths wind through the trees and connect to the various athletic amenities, from basketball courts to a baseball diamond. Kids can play at the playground here. Sandman Park offers more open green space with two baseball diamonds but also has pathways shaded by trees. “There’s the Delta Little League Park, where all the kids go to play,” says Realtor Lance McHan with Lance McHan. To the north, Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park features a disc golf course spread across the park’s 180 acres and a 1.5-mile nature trail through the groves. Park officials stock the pond with catfish and trout, but people can also rent paddleboats on summer weekends. Though Stonewood is a smaller, more residential community than other areas around Stockton, it boasts multiple religious centers in the southern corner, including those for Jehovah’s Witnesses, a Buddhist monastery and an Islamic Masjid.
