Small Chicago suburb with great parks, schools and housing options
Fourteen miles southwest of downtown Chicago, Summit is a small suburb that was incorporated as a village in 1890. Here, residents can find various single- and multi-family housing options for lower prices than in the city, and a local train station gives them easy access to Amtrak and Metra services. The area has historically operated and continues to operate as a corn-processing town, with Corn Products Corp. (now Ingredion) building the world's largest corn-processing plant in the community at the turn of the twentieth century. Today, Ingredion is still one of the major employers in the area, and the facility is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Many move here to work there or at ACH Food Companies' similar facility, and it's merely a perk that the village has an active park system, highly rated schools and a rich stock of relatively low-cost single-family housing.
The village of Summit provides its residents with nearby parks, local restaurants and bars.
