A modern extension of Wachesaw Plantation
Wachesaw East was first established in 2002 as an extension to the long-running Wachesaw Plantation community. Mel Nordstrom, a Realtor with Keller Williams Innovate South, calls Wachesaw East the “little sister” of the original neighborhood, which was developed in the 1980s. “One of the biggest differences is when you’re in Wachsaw East, it’s a more traditional community,” says Nordstrom says, who has lived in the Grand Strand for over 15 years. “Wachesaw Plantation is more of an executive community, and it’s more about country club living.” Like its big sister, this second neighborhood is also a gated golf community with an award-winning 18-hole course, an on-site restaurant and multiple walking trails. The neighborhood is next to Ocean Highway in the heart of Murrells Inlet. This location puts it close to amenities like the local hospital and keeps it within a short drive to the rest of the inlet. With beaches, gardens and acclaimed fresh seafood, Murrells Inlet is a laid-back marsh town with plenty to explore. “I can’t remember the last time I saw someone wearing a suit and tie on the inlet. It’s very down to earth,” says Drew Dellinger, who has lived in the Grand Strand for over 20 years and is a Realtor with Garden City Realty.
