Many Bayshore Beautiful residents will agree that the area is aptly named. This Tampa neighborhood is one of the city's more luxurious communities, with top-tier schools and homes hugging picturesque Hillsborough Bay. "South Tampa has a lot of appeals, like being near the water, boating," says Lewis Stewart, owner of Exit Bayshore Realty. Located just five miles south of downtown, locals are front and center for many of the city's offerings. The neighborhood shares a name with Bayshore Boulevard along its eastern edge, featuring the longest continuous pedestrian walkway, according to Guinness World Records, extending nearly five miles along the water and welcoming runners, walkers and rollerbladers. Besides admiring waterfront views, residents appreciate this neighborhood's peaceful atmosphere with quiet residential streets shaded by old trees, as well as nearby cafes and locally owned shops. The location is convenient for those working in greater Tampa or St. Petersburg, about 20 miles south across the bay.

Vintage homes on shady streets
While Bayshore Beautiful has some of Tampa's pricier homes, it also has some smaller, more affordable properties. On the lower end, homes around 1,000 to 1,500 square feet a few blocks from the water may go for $325,000 to $750,000 and require some renovations. Properties upwards of 3,000 square feet may cost between $2 and $6 million. Condominiums near the water sell for around $200,000 to over $5 million, depending on square footage. There are varying architectural styles, including ranches, Mediterranean Revival homes with archways and red tiled roofs and symmetrical Colonial Revival-style properties, ranging from the early 20th century through today. Some newer homes mimic vintage styles to blend with surrounding homes. Dense canopies of tall, old trees provide heavy shade on many streets.

Locals get some exercise with a waterfront view along Bayshore Boulevard, which stretches along the neighborhood's east side and continues north. The pirate-themed festivities include a parade down Bayshore Boulevard, which begins on the north end of the neighborhood and continues north. There's much more to do in the area. "Tampa has all kinds of events," Stewart says. "There are art festivals, music festivals, sports. Every day there's something going on."
