An eclectic lakeside community in Temple, Texas
Living around the 12,000-acre Belton Lake or along Cedar Creek in Morgan's Point Resort, residents enjoy boating, fishing and swimming close to home. The area includes several parks and the occasional deer wandering through yards. While the community feels remote, shopping, dining and entertainment are clustered around West Adams Avenue. "Morgan's Point Resort is one of the few areas where you can find a wide variety of homes for a bit less than some of the surrounding areas," says Taylor Dasch, Realtor with Envision Group. "It's quiet, waterside living with lots of wildlife, but you're still so close to the city of Temple."

Outdoor recreation on Belton Lake
The main attraction at Morgan's Point Resort is Belton Lake, created in the 1950s. "Lake Belton is really the only lake in the Temple area, so lots of people go there to enjoy watersports, and the fishing is really good," Dasch says. A bit farther inland, up Cedar Creek, locals can opt for a daycation at the Cedar Ridge Park campground or launch onto Cedar Creek from the Cedar Ridge Boat Ramp or the North Point Marina. Morgan's Point Marina has a vast water vista; some residents live in houseboats. In the middle of Morgan's Point Resort at John Ansay Park, neighbors meet at the playground, shoot hoops and practice their disc-golf skills. Several other parks surround Morgan's Point Resort, such as Temple Lake, Rogers, Oakmont, neighboring Kleypas Park and Hidden Canyon Park.
Families can enjoy the Roy and Jean Potts Belton Swim Center and the Summer Fun Water Park in the summer. Down Camp Kachina Road lies the Bluebonnet Shores Girl Scout Camp.

New custom builds and older homes
"Many of the homes were built in the 1980s and 1990s," Dasch says. "But you'll also see a lot of custom builds, where people bought the lot and built what they wanted because there aren't any HOA restrictions." Dasch adds that home price points vary. Generally, prices start around $200,000 and reach as high as $800,000. Homes built in 2023 on Bending Branch Way average around $500,000, featuring brick and stone exteriors and multigabled roofs. These homes line up neatly on manicured lawns along bright new sidewalks. Trees aren't mature enough to offer much shade. Newly constructed homes near Morgan's Point Marina are priced between $250,000 and $600,000 and are a mix of white-brick and red-brick ranch styles and two-story homes with wraparound decks. Land, often half-acre plots, is available around The Cliffs at Belton Lake subdivision. Prices can range from $125,000 to $160,000. Large pieces of property are scattered around the lake, and anything over 3 acres is priced between $250,000 and $500,000.

A variety of eateries spanning Temple and Belton
Morgan's Point Resort feels secluded from the rest of Temple, but several eateries and conveniences are pretty close. "There's a great restaurant right off Lake Road called Dead Fish Grill," Dasch says. "It's up on a cliff, and they have a large, covered outdoor patio, so you get to enjoy this really nice view while dining." Dead Fish features a variety of Southern comfort, Cajun and classic American fare. Just outside the neighborhood, locals frequent Hat Creek Burger Company. As the name implies, the unassuming restaurant specializes in American fare, burgers, fried pickles and sweet potato fries. While parents enjoy the outdoor patio, kids can explore the restaurant's fort-inspired play space. On evenings and weekends, Bold Republic Brewing in the adjacent West Temple community is the spot for wing specials, bingo and a live music lineup during their summer concert series. Bold Republic pairs fried green tomatoes, crab-topped mac 'n' cheese, and a menu of pub fare with a rotating variety of beer, wine and seltzer on tap.
Plazas flanking West Adams Avenue offer a range of cuisine, including Korean Bul Go Gi at Seoul Garden or a delectable array of fresh baked cookies at Crumbl. And while there's a Dollar General in the neighborhood, residents can shop for groceries and essentials at Natural Grocers, Target and Home Depot within an 8-mile drive. Additional highly rated restaurants overlook a creek in Belton, like Miller's Smokehouse and The Gin at Nolan Creek. For department store shopping, Temple Mall off South 31st Street has bealls, Dillard's and Walmart.
