Living near shopping and golfing

Hunters Glen is a quiet golf course community in Thornton, Colorado near some of the best shopping in the foothills. The neighborhood sits just east of the Denver Premium Outlets, off Interstate 25, which provides quick access to Denver, Colorado Springs and other major cities. “The outlets being right there is a big draw,” says Charlie Belger of JPAR Modern Real Estate. “It’s also convenient because you have the highway and plenty of places to eat.” Despite the nearby shopping, Hunters Glen is a completely residential neighborhood with single-family homes, townhouses and condos. The properties are sprinkled around the Thorncreek Golf Course, which has views of the Front Range.

Shopping at Denver Premium Outlets

While there are no shopping or dining options in Hunters Glen, there are plenty just west of the neighborhood along Interstate 25. Less than a mile away, the Denver Premium Outlets have everything from Marc Jacobs to Old Navy to Banana Republic. Just north are other big box stores like Burlington, Cabela’s and Hobby Lobby, while Lowe’s Home Improvement and Walmart are just a couple of blocks to the west. Less than a mile south of the neighborhood is La Belle French Bakery, a popular place for croissants and scones. Satire Brewing Company has a rustic interior with exposed wooden beam ceilings and a large patio filled with round tables. Thea area also has plenty of chain spots like Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse and more.

Living near Thorncreek Golf Course

Hunters Glen is mostly made up of single-family homes, but there are condos and townhouses available on the southern end of the neighborhood near Hunters Glen Lake Park. Most single-family houses are tri-level builds from the 1980s and 90s. Prices range from $465,000 to $840,000; pricier homes are typically located on the area’s north side between Thorncreek Golf Course and East 136th Avenue. Houses sit on quiet roads with wide sidewalks and cul-de-sacs; most have private driveways, multicar garages and fenced-in backyards. Condos and townhouses range in price from $350,000 to $600,000, depending on age.

Fishing at Hunters Glen Lake Park

The Thorncreek Golf Course is a public, 18-hole championship track with a driving range, full-service restaurant and pro shop. The course offers a variety of leagues throughout the week, like Monday Ladies 9-Hole and Friday Night Couples Golf. Hunters Glen Lake Park is a popular spot for fishing, basketball and tennis; it also has a walking path as well as open green space. Eastlake Park and Nature Preserve offers hiking and birdwatching just a mile from Hunters Glen.

Mountain Range's High School of Business

Kids in the neighborhood attend Adams 12 Five Star Schools, beginning at Hunters Glen Elementary School. Hunters Glen Elementary and Century Middle School both have B-minus Niche grades. Teens attend Mountain Range High School, which holds a B ranking and was named the sixth best public high school in Adams County. Students at Mountain Range can enroll in the High School of Business, an accelerated college program that allows students to earn up to 21 college credits and complete an internship while attending high school.

Driving I-25

Hunters Glen is located just east of Interstate 25, which runs 16 miles south to downtown Denver. Route 36 links the neighborhood to Boulder, which is 23 miles northwest. Just south of Hunters Glen is the Eastlake Light Rail Station. Commuters can hop on the train for easy access to Denver, Englewood and Littleton. “A lot of people take the light rail into work,” says Belger. “It’s easy, especially if you don’t like trying to park downtown.”
