While Tigerville isn’t necessarily roaring, it’s the serene, rural atmosphere that is embraced by the community less than 10 miles south of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Sandy Clayton, Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, has lived near Tigerville most of her life and services the area. She says, “It’s really quiet, and it’s nice because you aren’t in the mountains, but you have a more mountain feel than the southern part of Greenville County because of the views.” At the heart of the community is North Greenville University and the Cherokee Valley golf club. “A lot of people move there to retire and play golf,” says Clayton. “Some are also professionals who work in Greenville, and others have kids who go to the university.”

Diverse homes with lots of land
Tigerville features predominantly single-family homes in all shapes and sizes on acres of land. Houses are either surrounded by woods, farmland, mountains or a mix of all three. “You can pretty much find any kind of single-family home in Tigerville,” says Clayton. “They can range anywhere from a $250,000 starter home to a $1 million mansion.” A small ranch-style house or Cape Cod built in the mid-1900s sells for around $250,000 to $350,000. Newer homes from the early 2000s through today with similar architectural styles cost about $350,000 to $600,000. Tigerville also has some housing developments with contemporary Craftsman-style houses on lots of a quarter to one acre, which sell for around $700,000 to $900,000. Residents may even settle down in luxurious mansions tucked away in the woods with long looping driveways ranging from $1.2 to $1.8 million.

Nature parks in the Blue Ridge Mountains
Locals enjoy hitting the greens at Cherokee Valley Club, which offers a par 72 course with mountain views, ponds and rolling fairways. Members can also hit the weights in the fitness center or head to the outdoor pool during the warm summer months to swim or lounge in the sun. Residents are also within driving distance of big parks in the mountains, such as Chestnut Ridge Heritage Preserve, which provides miles of nature trails by the South Pacolet River. Several community parks are also within driving distance, such as Lincoln Park. Locals frequent the park to play on the playground and basketball court, go for a stroll on the walking paths and have get-togethers with friends and family under the large picnic pavilion.

Limited shopping and dining in rural Tigerville
As a rural community, Tigerville doesn’t have many places to shop other than Dollar General for basic essentials. The same goes for dining out, as there are just a few restaurants in Tigerville. Core 450 at Cherokee Valley Club is open to the public, known for its crafty dishes and pretty views from the patio. In town, locals can enjoy more casual meals at Tigerville Café or hearty southern food made with local ingredients in a farm-style atmosphere at The Hungry Drover.

Students are split between several Greenville County Schools. They may attend Mountain View Elementary, graded an A-minus by Niche.
