Hustle and bustle with a side of suburbs in Oak Park Avenue Estates

Oak Park Avenue Estates is a small square of residential streets, boxed in by roads lined with restaurants and grocery stores. Located less than 1 mile north of downtown Tinley Park, residents here are just a short walk from shopping and dining and a drive from the village’s active music scene, while still maintaining that suburban feel that many look for when moving to areas like Tinley Park. “People come to the suburbs for the slower pace of life, but it’s still hustle and bustle with the growing community and music scene,” says Tinley Park local and broker Marge Cahill with @properties. “There’s a little bit of everything—it’s why I haven’t left yet.”

Single-family homes and pockets of condo communities

Cape Cods and ranch-style homes line the wide streets in Oak Park Avenue Estates. Yards run all the way to the curb, with no sidewalks obstructing them. Trees sit in front yards, with older ones hanging over the street. Many homes have little front gardens to accent front walkways and older trees. Little pockets of condo communities and townhomes sit in the northwestern corner of the neighborhood, offering a different feel with communities like Hamilton Lakes offering sidewalks lined with young trees in front of matching New Traditional duplexes. Just a bit westward down 167th Street, Centennial Park spans 58 acres, with a 12-acre lake at the center. A walking path encircles the water, leading to the fishing piers. The western side of the park is home to a lot of the space’s recreational amenities, with the soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts and a skatepark found here. “There’s also a ton of forest preserves nearby where people can go to picnic,” Cahill says.
