Point Place is 15 minutes north of downtown Toledo, a coastal oasis offering boating, fishing and golfing along the western edge of Lake Erie. Lake Erie, the Maumee River and the Ottawa River. At Detwiler Park's 18-hole golf course, members can get advice from a PGA professional, then head to Point Place Boat Club to join a dock party or watch the sunset over the lake. Marinas include the New Harrison Marina, Inc. and Bush Marine. Locals can get a scenic ride in the 100-passenger Sandpiper Boat on the Maumee River. Seniors can enjoy card games and a free daily lunch at the Friendship Park Community Center. "Bingo is fun for the whole family," says Carol McDole, coordinator the center. Point Place Lighthouse is in Bay View Park at the site where the Lake Erie Amusement Park and Casino used to be. Much of Bay View Park is undeveloped and fishing is permitted along the shore. The site also features a 1.25-mile gravel trail.
