Westgate comprises architectural styles such as Colonial revival, ranch-style, Tudor and traditional, and prices range between $111,000 and $280,000. Condos can primarily be found situated near shopping areas. One- and two-bedroom condos sell between $85,000 to $165,000. "The Lincolnshire section is popular with investors," says Realtor Tyler Tresize with Serenity Realty, who sold four Westgate homes. "People can find some nice homes here, especially first-time homebuyers." Lot sizes run about 1/8 acre, suitable for a garden or sitting area, and most houses have garages.

Two districts serve the neighborhood
Two school districts overlap in Westgate: the Washington Local School District and Toledo City School District, which offer open enrollment. Students can start their education at Old Orchard Elementary, which has a C-minus grade from Niche. Washington Junor High School received a C. Start High School, also with a C grade, offers the College Credit Plus (CCP) program, which allows students in grades 7 through 12 to take classes at public universities and colleges in the state.

Westgate has lots of green space
There are several recreational and cultural experiences in and around Westgate. Families flock to nearby Marvin Playground, which is equipped with slides, swings, and ample room to roam. Just outside the neighborhood, the 492-acre Wildwood Preserve Metropark is surrounded by natural habitat and a system of trails and is the former estate of Toledo's Stranahan family. The stately manor house still sits on the property and is open for tours. A bit further out but still a big draw is the scenic Glass City Metropark, which sits on the banks of the Maumee River Spanning 70 acres, the park has event space, a boardwalk and play areas.
Take a quick drive or bike over to the nearby Wildwood Preserve.

Easy accessibility to major highway
"Interstate 475 passes through the neighborhood, enabling residents to get anywhere quickly," Tresize says. Additionally, State Route 51 cuts through to the northeast, making commuting convenient for residents. Westgate is 5 miles south of Downtown Toledo via Interstate 75. The closest hospital to Westgate is ProMedica Toledo Hospital, which is 1.4 miles taking local streets. The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority bus makes several stops in the community, increasing accessibility to downtown and outlying areas. Toledo Express Airport is a 16-mile drive via I-475.
