Quiet suburbia near Old Town Torrance
The cozy suburban enclave of Southeast Torrance is the complete package, offering great schools, convenient shopping, and easy access to South Bay employers. On top of all that, it’s just a few minutes from the beach.
All in all, it’s simply a nice place to live. Just ask local Realtor Carol Gilles, who has been selling houses in the area for over 40 years. “For most people the big thing is the schools, which are great, and the fact that you get a little more bang for your buck in terms of square footage, compared to the neighborhoods to the west. All in all it’s just a very walkable, very pleasant community.”

The Torrance Unified School District is generally regarded as one of the strongest in LA County, with nearly all of its schools substantially outperforming state averages when it comes to test scores and year-over-year student progress. Southeast Torrance’s schools are no exception, including John Adams Elementary and Torrance High School, which both have an A grade on Niche. Recently remodeled J.H. Hull Middle School has an A- rating on the site, and offers an Astrocamp program at Big Bear Mountain and the opportunity for students to visit the Catalina Island Marine Institute for a marine biology experience.
