Tree-lined streets create a suburban feel in Wilbur
Wilbur is a neatly gridded suburb of Trenton, settled on the eastern outskirts. The neighborhood is a blend of walkable, almost urban streetscapes with park spaces near a large creek. It’s gaining popularity among homebuyers who are leaving a denser place in search of a more laid-back lifestyle. “People are buying more in Wilbur,” says Fareeda Stokes, a Realtor with Harkes Realty & Associates. “It’s a beneficiary of both city investment and suburban development.” Wilbur sits next to sprawling Hamilton Township and Hutchinson Mills, giving residents quick access to diverse eateries, entertainment venues and cultural destinations. “Grounds For Sculpture is a huge park that’s basically like an artist commune, and Rat's has excellent food and events,” says Rana Bernhard, a Realtor with Weichert Realtors, about amenities that are close to the neighborhood.
Houses in Wilbur often times sit close together without many rooms for car ports or garages.

Late 19th-century rowhouses along Walter Avenue
The neighborhood’s late 19th-century rowhouses range from $150,000 to $200,000. Large shade trees loom over sidewalks, and meetup spots are embedded in these calm residential stretches. Along the oak-speckled stretch of Walter Avenue, rowhouses are punctuated by Briggs Branch Library and Westminster Presbyterian Church. In the range of $200,000 to $330,000, there’s a mix of two-family properties and single-owner homes. Remodeled early 20th-century styles, such as bungalows with covered front porches, constitute the single-owner options. Brick facades and bay windows characterize the two-family homes.
