Suburban living close to the mountains east of Tucson
A suburb of Tucson, Estes Park offers peak convenience and peak — well, everything else. “It's close to the mountains, Coronado National Forest and Colossal Cave Mountain Park,” says Donald Wehn, Realtor for Century 21 1st American, who has an office in the area. “From East Broadway Boulevard, you can go right up to the mountain, park your car and go hiking. Plus, everything you need is very close by in that area. You have Walmart, the drug stores, fast food. You have everything.”
Diverse homes and price points in Estes Park
Some streets have dense rows of homes, sidewalks and back alleys for parking, while other streets are less walkable with homes set further back on larger lots. House hunters will find a mix of old and new homes, some ranch-style with low-slung rooflines and some more contemporary ones built within the last ten years. Because there are many older homes in the neighborhood — the median year built is 1969 — Wehn says that “the price point per square foot for the resale homes is so much more competitive than the prices for new construction neighborhoods.” Prices range from the low $200,000s to the mid-$600,000s depending on house age, square footage and lot size.
Brick Ranch homes are plentiful in Estes Park.
To the east of Estes Park lies Saguaro National Park and the Rincon Mountains.
Estes Park homes are often dwarfed by the palms and cacti lining the suburban streets.

For more shopping options, Park Place Mall is within 4 miles of most homes and downtown Tucson is just 10 miles away.

Heading outdoors around Estes Park
Surprisingly, Estes Park doesn’t actually have a park of its own, but it is sandwiched between two neighborhoods with their own parks that residents can get to by car in just a few minutes. Jesse Owens Park offers playground equipment, athletic fields and a public swimming pool with no admission fee. Case Natural Resource Park features gardens and a hummingbird and butterfly sanctuary, making it a good option for nature walks. Of course, there are multiple hiking, biking or horseback riding options nearby in the mountains; one of the entrances to Saguaro National Park is only about 6 miles from home. Even on the rare rainy day or days when residents need to beat the heat, there’s still plenty of recreation around; a movie theater, bowling alley and 24-hour gym are all close to home.
Morning and dusk are the most popular times for outdoor activities in Estes Park.
