Park-filled South Tucson area with growing neighborhood association
Set 13 miles south of downtown Tucson, Groves Lincoln Park is a modest suburban community with a growing neighborhood association wanting to beautify the area. “We all need to make it better and clean it up,” says Jessica Riesgo, Vice President of the Groves Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association. During COVID, neighbors worked together planting trees throughout neighborhood streets, and Riesgo herself added desert shrubs in the median near her house. With the city’s installation of the nearby Wagging Tails Dog Park in May 2024, the association hopes it will positively impact their area. “We definitely want people more involved, and if we can start connecting folks through the park, then maybe more people will show up to volunteer,” Riesgo says. Along with having proximity to mountain biking trails and a golf course, people here enjoy being close enough to local shopping but far enough away from busy city traffic.
Groves Lincoln Park borders Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, operating since 1927.
Lincoln Park's, Wagging Tails Dog Park, is the largest dog park in the city of Tucson.

Some noise pollution and unincorporated land in Groves Lincoln Park
Because the community is close to the Air Force base, Riesgo says the flying jets can get noisy, and people can see a massive collection of retired planes at the Historic Aviation Bone Yard a few miles south of the neighborhood.
