Schools located right in the neighborhood

Students won’t have to travel far to get to class, as there are several Tucson Unified District public schools close by. Many students will attend Cavett Elementary to start their education, before graduating to Utterback Middle. Catalina High offers several Career and Technical Education programs that provide hands-on experience in fields including culinary and construction programs as well as business operations. All schools receive a C rating on Niche. Southside Community School is a K through 9 charter school scoring a D rating.

Catching a show or a game

On the southern end of the neighborhood is the expansive Kino Sports Complex, one of the largest multi-use venues in the area. There are several athletic courts for football, baseball and pickleball among others, and it also hosts various events throughout the year. The sports complex has a soccer stadium where FC Tucson plays its home games. In the summer, Kino Pool is open for $1 per child and $3 per adult. At James Thomas Park, residents can practice their swing on the tennis courts or play a game of pickup basketball with friends.

Small markets to big box stores

There are plenty of eateries close by, whether grabbing a quick meal from Raising Cane’s or In-N-Out or sitting down and enjoying brisket and a baked potato at Rudy’s. Residents can grab groceries or daily essentials from Walmart inside the Tucson Marketplace or at Costco. Small shops offer specialty items, like Sonora Market — a Mexican grocery store. Residents can participate in many of the community’s events, including neighborhood cleanup efforts, fiestas, yard sales and monthly meetings, offering a great chance to meet fellow neighbors and be involved. The Las Vistas Neighborhood Association, along with the Western Hills II neighborhood, have an annual block party with free food, live music and games.

Close to major roads highways and medical centers

With I-10 nearby, residents are just minutes away from starting their commute or heading to Downtown Tucson.
