Affordability in North Tulsa
About 6 miles from downtown Tulsa, Chamberlain is a comfortable option for residents looking for spacious homes near downtown, at a lower cost than in much of the city. Lately the area has drawn investor interest for its 1950s homes built in the postwar boom. “Chamberlain is an established community that is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in the entire Tulsa region,” says Rachel Close, a sales associate with McGraw Realtors in South Tulsa.
Bungalows and cottages from the 50s and 60s are common in Chamberlain neighborhood.

1950's ranch homes and renovated properties
Most homes in the neighborhood were constructed in the 1950s, around the time of a housing boom after World War II. Ranch-style homes are most common, often three bedrooms, close together on lots separated by chain fencing. Prices tend to range from $60,000 to $120,000. “Just like most other places in Tulsa, the market value of the homes here has risen,” says Denise Donaldson, a broker with Donaldson Realty Company who has sold homes in the area for over 20 years. There are also several plots of land for sale at varying price points. A quarter-acre of land can sell for under $20,000, whereas half-acre lots can sell for $40,000.

McLain High School has an Early College High School Program
Chamberlain is part of the Tulsa Public Schools district. Kids might start at John Hope Franklin Elementary School, which offers a Literacy for Everyone afterschool program that includes tutoring, homework assistance and an array of activities. Monroe Demonstration Academy received a C-minus grade from Niche, with several clubs including a robotics program and plenty of athletic programs. McLain High School for Science and Technology also receives a C-minus, offering an early college program that results in an associate degree from Tulsa Community College.
McClain High School is known for excellence in sports and academics.
John Hope Franklin Elementary is part of the Tulsa Public School system.

Community support
The Tulsa Dream Center, less than a mile from the neighborhood, was created by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and hosts programs for local kids and adults, as well as afterschool tutoring. The area has several community centers, including the EduRec Youth and Family Fun Center, which hosts spring break camps, summer camps and after-school programs.

Nature walks along the Osage Prairie Trail
The neighborhood’s namesake park has plenty of amenities, including sports courts, a playground and a seasonal splash pad. Chamberlain Park is also home to the Jane Malone Center, a community center offering fitness classes, an arts-and-crafts room, a basketball court and a multipurpose room. The Osage Prairie Trail runs through the neighborhood, stretching 14 miles from Tulsa to neighboring Skitatook.

Several local roads, including Peoria Avenue, connect the central parts of Tulsa, about 6 miles away. Tulsa Transit has several stops along 56th Street and surrounding thoroughfares.
