Unique bars and top-notch eateries
No matter where you live, you’re always steps away from widely beloved restaurants. Amelia's is possibly the most recognized and acclaimed upscale American eatery specializing in wood-grilled cuisine like chicken breast and pork loin. Only open for dinner, it also has a basque two doors down. “Amelia’s is really nicely put together with beautiful food,” says Tiffany Johnson, Realtor for Chinowth & Cohen. “Everything is served on porcelain plates. It’s really cute and chill.” For a taste of the Caribbean, head to Sisserou’s for fall-off-the-bone oxtails and jerk chicken and wash it down with a ginger beer from Chimera, which also serves coffee and a little bit of everything food-wise, from tacos to avocado toast.
And it wouldn’t be a downtown area without a heavy nightlife scene. If you’re seeking a night out but don’t know where to start, the bartenders at Valkyrie have a list of words that you can choose from, and they’ll make your drink from there. One block over, The Hunt Club regularly has live music performances that pair well with its American fare like mac ‘n’ cheese and drinks like rum punch. For a relaxing night on the town, sip on a blueberry sour beer while lounging on Welltown Brewing’s rooftop deck.

You can celebrate one of Oklahoma’s superstars just south of the park. The Woody Guthrie Center, memorializing the folk singer-songwriter known for “This Land Is Your Land,” among other tracks, displays his ever-relevant role in music through artifacts, exhibits and a feature film. If you’re still in the musical mood afterward, snag tickets to a show at the Tulsa Theater. Established in 1914 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, this venue has hosted icons like Tony Bennett and Cyndi Lauper and continues to draw international tours.
One of Tulsa’s most recognized dedications bounds the neighborhood to the east. National literary landmark John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park commemorates the hundreds of victims of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre through poignant structures depicting images of that day and a memorial documenting African American history.
