Mcclure neighborhood is located only minutes from downtown Tulsa.
Prime location off Route 66
With Interstate 244 hugging its northern border and the historic Route 66 serving as its southern end, the McClure Park neighborhood draws homebuyers for its central location, just 6 miles east of Downtown Tulsa. “People move to this area for convenience,” says Marie McManus, Realtor for RE/MAX Results. “And it’s usually more affordable, as well, compared to the greater Tulsa area.” But make no mistake, this area boasts worthwhile offerings of its own, too, including its beloved namesake park, a handful of lauded restaurants and proximity to an internationally recognized drive-in theater.
Ranch-style homes and bungalows with enticing features
Densely packed homes line the residential streets here, which brim with small lots. Ranch-style homes are most common – typically equipped with garages, covered front porches and fenced-in backyards – but bungalows crop up every now and then, too, sporting fiberglass roofs and carports. Asking prices usually hover around the $140,000 mark but can go up to $240,000, depending on square footage.

McClure Park's namesake green space keeps residents active and engaged
To shake off the academic year or work week, residents can unwind in the neighborhood’s 53-acre namesake park. On the grounds are tennis and basketball courts for friendly or competitive games and an 18-hole disc golf course. Let the kids roam on the mulched play area or take a bike ride or stroll on the paved pedestrian trail, which snakes along Mill Creek. The park’s pool – which was recently renovated and includes a rock-climbing wall – is wildly popular during the sultry summer months.

Sheridan Road lends to locally owned eateries
A handful of locally beloved restaurants line or are close to major the thoroughfare, Sheridan Road. Well-rated by the local newspaper Tulsa World, Freeway Café has a little bit of everything to offer: all-day traditional breakfast options like omelets and pancakes, diner classics like chicken fried steak and seafood dishes like butterfly shrimp. Head south a couple blocks and to Leon’s Smoke Shack, which specializes in all things barbecue. Snag a beef brisket sandwich or buy specialty meats by the pound for home-cooked meals. To secure side dishes for a Leon’s-provided entrée, Walmart Supercenter is less than a mile east in neighboring Clarland Acres. A popular nightlife spot sits on the western side, too: A cocktail at DD’s Double Shots pairs well with its casino machines, shuffleboard, billiards and frequent live music performances.
Family-friendly fun awaits just a stone’s throw north at the famous Admiral Twin Drive-In, which can be spotted in the film “The Outsiders.” The venue burned down in 2010 after a screen caught fire, but it reopened in 2012 and now serves as Oklahoma’s only drive-in with two screens. Pull up, grab a bag of popcorn from the concession stand, tune on the radio and catch the next big flick. Downtown Tulsa is just minutes away, but with a laundry list of activities and restaurants at their disposal, McClure Park residents don't often find a reason to leave.
The Admiral twin is known best for the filming of the "Outsiders".
