Bordered by facilities for farm-raised nuts and organic poultry, Wright is a suburban neighborhood that captures the spirit of the Central Valley with single-level homes and highway access on the edge of Turlock’s lively city center. Downtown Turlock is characterized by an Old West atmosphere with saloon-style storefronts and locally owned businesses that uplift the community through Main Street events. "We're always helping each other and ensuring our community is cared for. That's a huge thing in Turlock," says Mona Piro, a Turlock native and Realtor at Valley Heritage Realty. "This place has a small-town feel with big city amenities, and people strive to live here."

Balmy landscaping and living in "the woods"
Wright's architecture features Spanish-style and ranch-style homes on quarter-acre lots with balmy landscaping. Bright palm trees and oaks grow in front lawns, while backyards are fenced-in for privacy. Most construction occurred in the 70s and 80s, and this neighborhood is a pioneer for modern-day development. "Wright has brand-new builds starting at $380,000 in 'the woods.' It's called that because their street names all end in 'wood,'" Piro says. With names like Birchwood, Rockwood, and Rosewood, the roads border single-level houses that have stucco walls, tile roofs, and interior arched doorways. Some backyards have finished patios or shady pavilions supported by columns. Prices range from $350,000 to $550,000.

Weekly markets and the Melon Carnival
The Turlock Flea Market is a community staple with antiques and secondhand items every Tuesday morning. The Turlock Farmers Market features locally grown produce and Main Street vendors on Saturday mornings from March to December. The Melon Carnival dates back over a century to the city's agricultural beginnings when one of the events was a melon rolling contest. The event became the Stanislaus County Fair in the 1950s, still held at the Turlock fairgrounds in July. However, due to popular demand, the Melon Carnival returned to downtown in 2024, with a barbecue, beauty pageant, and dancing on Main Street in September.
