A little community with a lot to offer
Bayville is a little sliver of a neighborhood tucked between the Lynnhaven River and Chic’s Beach, just a mile from the Chesapeake Bay. Despite its small size, Bayville offers a wide range of benefits. “I would still consider it one of the Bay communities and part of central Virginia Beach,” says Ryan Bielat, a Realtor at Long & Foster Real Estate who has been selling in the area for eight years and has a lifetime of experience growing up and living there. “I would say being close to the Bay is the biggest draw. It’s got good restaurants, it’s got parks, it’s got things to do. It could be considered a walkable community, and it’s family-centric.”

Hiking, kayaking and education at Pleasure House Point
Bayville Farms Park is home to a disc golf course, skate park, several athletic courts and ballfields, picnic tables, a dog park and a playground. The 68-acre park’s new office and restrooms were completed in April 2023. The Bayside Recreation Center offers members access to indoor recreation, including gym equipment, a pool, childcare, personal training and drop-in group fitness classes. The annual membership works in all seven local recreation centers. Nearby golf clubs provide options for enthusiasts, including the exclusive Bayville Golf Club.
Nearby, the Pleasure House Point Natural Area offers 118 acres of forest and marshland right along the water, making it a popular hiking and kayaking destination, and the Brock Environmental Center teaches people about wetland conservation and native species. The closest Bay beaches are just a mile away, and it’s a 10-minute drive to the 2,888-acre First Landing State Park, where residents and tourists alike flock to enjoy boating, fishing and swimming in the Chesapeake Bay and hiking and biking on 19 miles of trails.

Traditional homes alongside crape myrtles
Virginia Beach’s signature crape myrtle trees are common in Bayville, blooming in vibrant pinks and purples each July alongside its ranch-style homes and occasional two-story colonial-style homes and Cape Cods. Two-bedroom fixer-uppers can cost around $295,000, while large four-bedroom homes can climb to nearly $689,000. The median home price, however, falls at $525,000. Simply crossing Lookout Road into Chic Beach brings home prices nearing and breaking well past $1 million, so Bayville’s prices are relatively modest for being so close to the Bay. “There’s a very strong market in Virginia Beach, there’s still a huge lack of inventory and nothing’s really changed,” Bielat says. “We have very, very good public schools and we have all four branches of the military. There’s a lot of people moving in and out of Virginia Beach.”
