A coastal neighborhood full of history

Warwick Neck exemplifies the city of Warwick's character as a coastal Rhode Island town, and the image that best captures this is that of the Warwick Neck Lighthouse, a fixture of the city since the early 17th century. The lighthouse stood sentinel as Warwick served as the locus of important historical events. Among these were King Phillip's War, a conflict among several Native American groups and New England settlers, as well as the Gaspee Affair, one of the key naval incidents in the run-up to the American Revolution. Today, the lighthouse is a scenic attraction and a reminder of Warwick Neck's seafaring origins. Becca Ponder, a wedding and event sales manager at Harbors Lights & Marina Pool Club, says the sea is always present in day-to-day life: "When I commute here for work, I see beautiful views of the water the whole way over." Warwick Neck residents take full advantage of living in a coastal town, often sailing or fishing in their free time. "It's like walking into a postcard," Ponder says. "It's super peaceful, close to the marina, and the sunset is insane." She adds, "The people here love their community and what it offers." In addition to its nautical roots, Warwick Neck is also suburban, with the major city of Providence about a 13-mile drive away on Interstate 95.
