“There’s a lot of new development in that area,” says Randy Louis, CEO of Block Shoppers, a local organization aimed at empowering people to build generational wealth through real estate. “It’s a good place to live for anyone, with a lot of redevelopment and construction going on.” Art Place is an in-process, mixed-use development that, once finished, will provide a multicultural artistic living space. As it stands, Art Place includes The Modern – an apartment complex and the Fort Totten Metro Station. Once completed, the plaza will include a 35,000-square-foot venue for touring artists and other performances, a maker’s space for resident artists and guests, a children’s museum, grocery stores and more dining and retail options.
