An appealing 55-plus community filled with activity
Cypress Lakes packs a lot of action and opportunity into a 55-plus gated community nestled into the natural landscape of unincorporated West Palm Beach. An 18-hole executive golf course winds along the edge of the neighborhood. Social activity is centered around a popular clubhouse, where card games are common and the pool is always popular. “There’s nothing quite like it,” says Lana Morrissey, a Realtor with Compass Florida and Cypress Lakes resident. “There is no other community that offers so much. It’s the best 55-plus community to live in if you are active. It’s literally a country club without the memberships.”

Social gatherings and a fitness center at the community clubhouse
Along with a pool, this neighborhood also offers tennis courts, bocce, shuffleboard and coming soon, pickleball. Residents can stay sharp and active with cards, billiards and ping pong at the clubhouse. “It’s a very social place,” Morrissey says. For those who want to work up a sweat, the clubhouse also has a fitness center. CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches is a nearby sports complex that is the spring training home of the Hoston Astros and Washington Nationals. Nearby Lincoln Park offers children’s playscapes, basketball courts and hiking/biking trails in a waterfront setting. Municipal Beach on the city’s oceanfront is about 8 miles from the neighborhood.

Age restrictions keep housing prices relatively low
Separate subdivisions offer their own amenities, such as pools and playgrounds. This gives prospective homebuyers more flexibility when choosing housing options. “The common denominator is that people choose Cypress Lakes because they want to live a vibrant life with family and friends. The subdivisions here give them ample opportunities to do that,” says Andrew Tornetta, a Realtor with LoKation Real Estate. The subdivisions are connected by golf cart-friendly pathways in a natural setting dotted by the cypress trees and lakes for which the community is named. “It’s a beautiful community to walk,” Morrisey says. Residential options are highlighted by mid-sized single-family homes with standard features such as driveways, attached garages and ample yard space. Most homes are two-bedrooms and at least 1,200 square feet. While ranch-style designs are prominent, contemporary custom homes also are available. These homes offer as much as 1,800 feet of interior space. Several homes come with lakefront views. Prices typically range from the mid-$300,000s to the mid-$400,000s. Attached villas provide a more affordable alternative, typically running between the mid-$200,000s and the mid-$300,000s. There are also condos here, most of them in te $200,000 range. “The only downside is that not everyone can live here. If they could, the prices would go way up as more people flocked to the community,” Morrissey says. While the community is inland, it is close enough to the coast that flooding and wind damage can be a factor, especially during hurricane season. Insurance rates are likely to reflect that.
