A gated community with a country club feel
In the private South Florida community of RiverWalk, “you get the country club feel the moment you drive through the gates,” says Christi Raye, a real estate agent with Keyes based in nearby Boca Raton. A long palm-tree-lined entryway leads to the sprawling Town Center, a clubhouse designed in the Spanish Revival style and the center of engagement in this active West Palm Beach neighborhood. Made up of man-made residential islands connected by bridges, RiverWalk offers a unique perk: Every home, whether a townhouse or a larger single-family residence, has water views.
"It's Disneyland meets Mayberry"
Town Center is a hub of activity, with multiple pools, including a lap pool, lighted tennis and pickleball courts and bocce ball courts. The courts host regular team play and round-robin tournaments. Inside Town Center, residents have access to a fitness center, game rooms, a library, a post office and a hair salon. The crowded activities calendar offers everything from adult coloring and arts and crafts to dance classes and karate. Residents also have access to more than 12 miles of paved walking and biking paths. “It’s a lifestyle community,” says Joseph Borzillieri of the Corcoran Group, who has lived in RiverWalk for 26 years. “It’s not a brick-and-mortar, cookie-cutter neighborhood. It’s a four-star, resort-style planned community that is more than just houses. It's Disneyland meets Mayberry." And while there isn’t a golf course, RiverWalk does have men’s and women’s leagues that compete on nearby courses, including Village Golf Club and Palm Beach National Golf & Country Club. The adjacent Grassy Waters Preserve offers nature-based walking trails. The city’s buzzy oceanfront is about 10 miles away.

Spanish-style housing on residential islands
The community stands out for its unique setting, in which housing is densely packed on residential islands, making every home a waterfront home. The islands are connected by bridges, and residents often get around by golf cart. Uniformly designed in the Spanish Revival style, homes come with driveways and attached garages. Prices range from the high $300,000s for 1,500-square-foot villas to the mid-$800,000s for 2,500-plus-square-foot pool homes. Townhomes can be found in the low $400,000s. Monthly HOA fees range from the high $400s to the high $500s and include 24/7 gated security. “The community has matured, and the demographics have changed, Borzillieri says. “Before, it was mainly second-home owners and retirees. Now it’s become more of a bedroom community for the ever-expanding downtown area.” The community is far enough inland that flooding is not a factor. However, wind damage is a risk, especially during hurricane season, and insurance rates are likely to reflect that.
Every home in the Riverwalk neighborhood is a waterfront home.

Restaurateur created Centanni Café for the community
Town Center also offers on-site dining at Centanni Café, owned by Fidel Alvarez, a chef with more than 20 years of experience in Italian cuisine. “It’s a full-fledged restaurant started by a real restaurateur,” Borzillieri says. “He closed another restaurant to come here. It was created for the community.” Eatalia, a popular family-owned casual restaurant nearby, offers its own twist on traditional Italian food. Dining options are concentrated along the Okeechobee Boulevard commercial corridor, which also includes Walmart Neighborhood Market, Publix and Target. Citywide attractions outside the community include iThink Financial Amphitheater about 3 miles south of the neighborhood and the downtown arts and entertainment district centered around historic Clematis Street about 8 miles east.

Nearby schools, including Grassy Waters Elementary, offer specialized programs
The schools that serve RiverWalk each have special programs designed to give students a head start on their career interests. Grassy Waters Elementary, a B-minus-rated school by Niche, offers biomedical and veterinary academies, while students at Jeaga Middle, a C-rated school, can participate in culinary and law programs. Palm Beach Lakes Community High, a C-plus-rated school, features the Five Carat Choice Program, in which students can explore career opportunities in six academies. Residence Charter School at Cypress, a B-minus-rated K-8 institution, is a nearby alternative.

Downtown West Palm Beach, ocean are easily accessible
Residents can catch the bus along Okeechobee Boulevard for direct commutes into West Palm Beach. The community is conveniently located about 7 miles from a trio of additional travel options: the city’s main commuter rail station, Interstate 95 and Palm Beach International Airport. “It’s one of the few communities where you can get to downtown West Palm Beach and the ocean without getting on a highway,” Borzellieri says. HCA Florida JFK North Hospital is about 8 miles from the community.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
