Hyland Greens, located about 15 miles between Denver and Boulder, is great for those who want a community-oriented neighborhood. Here, trails lead you to your neighbors, locals celebrate holidays together and community pools and pocket parks offer places for residents to hang out. Rachel Kennedy, a Realtor with eXp Realty, who lives in the neighborhood, says, “I always tell buyers—this is the closest thing you’ll get to the ‘Brady Bunch’ or ‘Leave it to Beaver’ era. You can send your kids out to play and tell them to come back when the sun sets without having to worry about a thing,”

“Hyland Greens was developed in the 1970s and was designed to be a park-like setting. We have over 10 miles of walking trails and greenbelts that run through,” says Kennedy. Almost every street here ends in a cul-de-sac, and sidewalks ensure you can safely walk from your house to one of the community pools or pocket parks. For $550,000 to $600,000, you might be able to find a property here, but you’ll need to put some work in. In the $600,000 to $700,000 range, you can find a home with a smaller floor plan and some updated features. A completely turnkey property in Hyland Greens runs between $700,000 and $800,000. Most homes are ranchers or Craftsman-style properties.

Students here are zoned for the Adams 12 Five Star School District and can attend Rocky Mountain Elementary, a C-rated school from Niche, before moving to Shaw Heights Middle School, which Niche gives a C-minus. Then, they can finish their studies at Northglenn High School, a B-plus rated school. The high school focused on a STEM education and has science, computer and aerospace engineering labs.

The neighborhood offers two community pools and various sports courts that are walkable from many homes. The greenbelts run around both, ensuring you can get there using trails. You also have ample access to greenery outside your development. Caroll Butts Park is one of the largest in the district and features numerous athletic fields for soccer, football, baseball and tennis, as well as an aquatic park. Here, you can barbeque with friends on one of the grills and enjoy your meal at a picnic table. Also close by is The Greg Mastriona Courses at Hyland Hills, which originally opened in 1963 and was one of the first 18-hole championship golf courses in the state.

The neighborhood’s Homeowner’s Association hosts festivities throughout the year. “The events bring the community together,” says Kennedy. “This is one of those neighborhoods where everyone knows their neighbors.” In the spring, there’s an Easter egg hunt, where the Easter Bunny hides over 3,000 eggs in one of the neighborhood’s pocket parks, and children search for them, collecting as many as they can in their colorful baskets. On The Fourth of July, kids decorate their bikes and follow a firetruck in a parade that leads to a neighborhood pool. Once they’ve made it there, the firetruck makes a waterfall with its hose for the kids to run under, and everyone enjoys snow cones and hotdogs.

You can find everything you need outside your neighborhood in Hyland Greens. Along Sheridan Boulevard, on the neighborhood’s eastern boundary, numerous shopping centers supply the essentials. Grab groceries from H Mart Westminster or the adjacent Walmart. If you don’t feel like cooking at home, stop into The Wishbone, an American comfort food restaurant with an exterior that resembles a ski lodge. Try the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy before heading to Tous les Jours, where you can get a coffee and dessert pastry. In addition to numerous banks and gas stations, this area has Office Depot, Best Buy, Hobby Lobby, Barnes & Noble and a Ross clothing store.

At the midpoint between Denver and Boulder, Hyland Greens attracts a lot of commuters. Hop on U.S. Interstate 25 for 13 miles to get to the former, and U.S. Route 36 for 16 miles will take you to the latter.
