Denver suburban community with new industrial-themed addition
Twin Lakes is a suburban Denver community that’s experiencing renewed interest due to a new development called Midtown. Occupying more than 180 acres, this modern master planned community boasts many amenities like playgrounds, dog parks and a community center called the Shed. Realtor Sam Neumann, host of the popular Denver Living with Sam Neumann YouTube channel, says Twin Lakes “has become a really fast-growing area, but even the new construction is affordable compared to the city.” Built on a former brownfield site, Midtown pays homage to the area’s past through its modern and industrial look. Made out of materials like glass, steel and precast concrete, the Shed reflects those industrial themes with its building style. While Twin Lakes buffers its residents from the bustle of Denver’s core, they are still within reasonable distance of the city’s big attractions. “It’s very close to downtown, much closer than you realize, and the housing is still affordable for being as close to the city as it is,” says Roberta Walker, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty DTC.
Mix of older ranches and contemporaries with 21st century touches
Twin Lakes is split into distinct communities: Midtown to the south, and a neighborhood of midcentury-era homes to the north. The older part features wider streets and rustic lots filled with ranch-style houses that date back to the 1950s. Price points for these homes can run between $500,000 and $550,000. The older homes help with Twin Lakes’ affordability and offer an option for Denver area residents who regularly commute to Boulder. “It’s hard to find more affordable areas in that corridor between Boulder and Denver. This is a perfect, happy medium, but you’re not paying the crazy prices of homes that are close to the Boulder area,” Walker says. On the other hand, Midtown is filled with colorful contemporary homes with distinct 21st century designs like low-pitched gabled and slanted skillion roofs. Alleyways between the homes take cars off the main roads, easing walkability for neighbors who enjoy getting on the paths that run across the neighborhood. Many of these homes built during the 2010s can run between $730,000 and $930,000. Townhouses can run between $500,000 and $600,000.
20th century brick ranch-style houses are common in Twin Lakes.
Inspired by industrial themes, Midtown in Twin Lakes consists entirely of contemporary and modern traditional style houses.
