Rural setting in a residential commuity
The borough of Bradford Woods, home to about 1,185 residents, takes pride in having a woodland environment appropriate for a quiet residential neighborhood. “People love it here because of the secluded, small-town feel,” says Rusti Null, Borough Manager of Bradford Woods. Dave McSwigan of Coldwell Banker Realty adds, “It’s a niche neighborhood that people gravitate to.”

Many home styles to choose from
Bradford Woods is a suburban area located north of Pittsburgh, where most residents choose to live in a tranquil setting as opposed to a busy commercial district. The 1-square-mile rural community is known for its unique architecture, thick forestry and quiet confines. “Bradford Woods has too many trees to count. Most of the homes are on wooded lots of at least one acre,” Null says. Many of the houses also have long driveways shaded by pine and maple trees for extra privacy. Deborah Platts of Coldwell Banker Realty, who has sold properties in the area for 30 years, says the neighborhood sprouted from what used to be summer homes for people who lived in Pittsburgh. About 98% of community structures are homes. As for architecture, prospective buyers can choose from contemporary homes, ranch-style homes, split-levels, colonial revivals and midcentury houses. Sales prices can range from $312,000 and $1.1 million. McSwigan says the homes are “far from being cookie-cutter.” He adds that most homes are either custom-built or renovated. The CAP Index crime score is 2 out of 10, below the national average.
