A wooded community close to highly-ranked schools and daily amenities
Arrowhead is a neighborhood situated in an unincorporated subdivision tucked in the southwest corner of Wheaton, presenting a peaceful residential landscape offering various home prices and styles. Residents don’t have to travel far to reach daily amenities, thanks to its location. Within walking distance is one of the community’s highly-rated schools. At the same time, a short trip east leads to a shopping center full of grocery stores, retailers and restaurants, providing residents with an easy one-stop-shop experience.

The homes of Arrowhead
Arrowhead’s residential streets are surrounded by mature oak and American elm trees, which provide shade for walks along its wide streets and sidewalks, which are present in roughly half of the neighborhood. Home pride is important here and can be seen through fresh lawn mower tracks in front yards and a sprinkling of holiday decorations depending on the time of year. "There’s a lot of new construction mixed in with older houses that have been updated with care,” shares Amy Kehoe, real estate broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago, whose office is located in Wheaton. These homes come in various architectural styles, from Tudor, ranch and Colonial Revival styles built in the mid-to-late 20th century to new traditional and millennium mansion styles constructed from the early 2000s through today. As a result, the neighborhood offers a wide range of prices, from $400,000 to $750,000, depending on size and condition, while larger, recently built homes can reach up to just under $4 million. “Residents also get a nice tax break since the subdivision is unincorporated,” explains Kehoe.

Older students can attend classes at Hubble Middle School, which also has an A on Niche and offers mental health services to students in partnership with ReferralGPS. Also located within the community is Wheaton Warrenville South High School. The home of the Tigers has an A-plus score on Niche, which has also ranked it as the No. 36 best public high school in the state of Illinois.

Archery at Blackwell Forest Preserve
Many homes in the community sit along the Illinois Prairie Path, where morning strollers can hop on any part of the 61-mile pathway with peace of mind, as motorized vehicles are not allowed on the trails. Meanwhile, the unique layout of Toohey Park and Safety City allows little ones to bike around the streets of a car-free mock city or play atop its large playground. Arrowhead is also full of nature preserves, including Blackwell Forest Preserve, a popular spot for local anglers home to an archery range and a snow tubing hill during winter. Locals also enjoy practicing swings on the 18-hole golf course at Arrowhead Golf Club and attending one of its many member events.

Cream of Wheaton celebration
On the last weekend of May, locals of Wheaton gather in Memorial Park and downtown Wheaton to celebrate Cream of Wheaton. The weekend-long event brings neighbors together while kicking off the summer season. Those in attendance enjoy live entertainment, carnival rides and the flavors of local food vendors. When the holidays roll around, families head to Santa’s Workshop at Toohey Park to meet Santa himself while getting to work on different holiday crafts.
Shop and eat at Danada Sqaure
A short 2-mile east drive takes residents to Danada Square West and East shopping malls, which are home to Jewel-Osco, Whole Foods, and ALDI. These malls provide residents with plenty of groceries to choose from. These share space with retailers like T.J. Maxx, Five Below, and several others. Conveniently, the area is also home to popular chain restaurants like Panda Express and Five Guys and sit-down eateries like Honey-Jam Café Wheaton, an American-style diner where friends get together while choosing a meal off its all-day breakfast menu.
