Refined residential streets and ample recreational opportunities
The wooded community of Cantigny offers quiet living, where residents don’t have to leave the neighborhood to enjoy an array of recreational opportunities. “Homebuyers come to the neighborhood because it’s spaced out and quiet while still being close to convenient amenities and roadways,” says Michael Lafido, broker with eXp Realty and resident of Wheaton. The premier courses of Cantigny Golf are situated along the backside of many homes, while its namesake park on the north side of the community welcomes folks from across the region. The neighborhood’s refined residential landscape and CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4. When residents do need to venture out of the community, local restaurants and shopping developments are within 3 miles.

20th century homes and unique custom builds
Lush rows of trees run parallel to the community’s quiet residential streets, circling the sides and backyards of residences, making homes the central focus of the community. Crisscrossed lawn mower lines and landscaped driveways full of shrubbery and flowers enhance Cantigny’s curb appeal. Sitting atop quarter-to-one-acre lots are mid-to-late 20th-century houses presenting various architectural styles, from New Traditional and Colonial Revivals to high-reaching ranch-style homes. The last 25 years have also welcomed custom-built homes to the community. Depending on size and condition, those looking to purchase or build a home in the community can expect a price range from $360,000 to $600,000. However, homes with more significant acreage or amenities like stables, in-ground pools and expansive backyard patios can reach up to $1.5 million.

Taking tours through Cantigny Park and practicing swings at Cantigny Golf
Cantigny Park spans 500 acres and welcomes over 400,000 annual visitors to its six different gardens, which showcase a range of brightly colored flora and unique sculptures. Similarly, the park's First Division Museum provides a look into the history of both World Wars, offering guided tours and Tank Park, where little ones climb about its array of staged tanks. Cantigny Golf’s championship golf course in the heart of the neighborhood has received many awards over the years, including multiple Best-in-State acknowledgments from Golf Digest. Featuring 27 holes, each has its own specific challenges, whether it be narrow greens surrounded by water or dense woodlands bordering the fairways. “Kids can get certified to play at the Youth Links course, so parents can drop them off before going to play a round of 18,” Lafido says. Meanwhile, St. James Farm Forest Preserve is on the south end, where many go for relaxing bike rides and walks along its paved trails.
