About Wildomar, CA

About Wildomar, CA

No rush for commercial growth

Unlike many Riverside County cities, the Temecula Valley city of Wildomar maintains a rural feel, with a lower cost of living and larger lots than Murrieta, about 6 miles away. Many of Wildomar's 40,000 residents keep horses on their land, and there's a scattering of strip malls on the south side of town. "The pressure for commercial development is there, but residents don't see the need for it," says Craig Flint, Broker with Net Gains Real Estate. "They can always commute to Temecula or San Diego for work and more shopping options. Folks here are more worried that the commercial growth will drive up prices and traffic." Wildomar is set right on Interstate 15, about 12 miles from Temecula and 70 miles from San Diego. While many locals commute to these cities, others work at Camp Pendleton, 42 miles south, or March Air Reserve Base, 26 miles north. Mountain foothills to the east and west of the city offer nearby hiking trails, and locals head 7 miles up the 15 to Lake Elsinore for swimming, boating and fishing.
