Commuter-friendly suburb between Philadelphia and Trenton
A quaint, pass-through town equidistant between Philadelphia and Trenton, Somerset Park attracts residents looking for more manageable commutes and a more affordable cost of living. Using U.S. Route 130, which cuts through the neighborhood, residents have a 17-mile commute south to Center City and a 17-mile commute north to Trenton. While the cities are close, this small Willingboro community embraces a quieter atmosphere. “A lot of people have moved out of the cities and into this area,” says Giulio Leone, a real estate agent with HomeSmart. “It has everything that city life has, but you’re living in the suburbs.” In addition to retail and dining just outside of Somerset Park’s subdivisions, there are pocket parks hidden within the residential lanes.
Getting to the city via Route 130 and the River Line
Somerset Park is car-dependent, and residents have multiple commuting options from which to choose. In addition to U.S. Route 130, those living here also have the option to drive 3 miles north on Route 130 to catch the NJ Transit train from the Burlington Towne Centre station. The River Line delivers passengers to Camden, where they can take the PATCO into Philadelphia. The River Line also runs to Trenton, where passengers can transfer over to Amtrak to continue service to Manhattan. “You can also take the train from Burlington to New York directly without even having to stop,” Leone says, referring to Amtrak’s high-speed Acela line. “And the train runs about every half hour. It’s the best way to get into the city.” The NJ Transit bus services the community, and Philadelphia International Airport is about 27 miles from the neighborhood.
Bungalows and Colonial-inspired properties with garages
Sidewalks typically line the residential sections of Somerset Park, where common housing styles include quaint bungalows and larger Colonial-inspired properties. Most homes feature multi-car driveways and one-car garages, and some have fenced-in backyards. While 1,200- to 1,800-square-foot bungalows generally range from $250,000 to $425,000, 2,000- to 3,000-square-foot Colonial-style homes can cost between $275,000 and $435,000.
Many homes in this area of New Jersey have solar panels to help offset energy costs.

Green space at Fairmount Park and Pennypack Park
As its name suggests, Somerset Park affords residents ample sites for outdoor recreation. On the south side, the 15-acre Fairmount Park is tucked into a neighborhood and split into two sections. One section features lighted tennis courts and a parking area, and the other section has a playground, a paved walking trail and a grass field. Just a mile from there, the 140-acre Pennypacker Park includes a network of paved, boarded and dirt trails, a playground and a community garden.
Located in Willingboro’s town center, about 2 miles east of Somerset Park, Kennedy Center Park has a walking track and athletic fields. These grounds host Willingboro’s annual Community Day and Relay for Life. Also on-site is the Kennedy Center, both an arts and recreation center with a gymnasium, stage and gallery.
