Suburban community on the edge of the Montana countryside

Miller Creek is a suburban Missoula neighborhood that offers all the benefits of living in the country with the conveniences of being close to the city. “It’s close to everything. There are a lot of close-by amenities with a great neighborhood feel,” says Jauna Poindexter, a broker associate with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Montana Properties, who has sold several homes in the neighborhood. “This area has a lot of walking trails throughout. You could walk for hours and not go on the same street twice. There’s lots of open space.” Located on the southern edge of Missoula, Miller Creek is bound by the Bitterroot River to the north and west and has plenty of undeveloped land to the south. Residents can enjoy living in a community where it’s easy to know their neighbors while also experiencing the Montana countryside all around them.

Recreation options abound in suburban Missoula

Miller Creek is home to several city parks, offering plenty of room for outdoor fun. Marilyn Park is located on Linda Vista Boulevard and has a playground and a splash pad, making it an ideal spot for parents to take their kids on a hot summer day. The park also has tennis and basketball courts. Maloney Ranch Park is a large green space with walking trails, a basketball court and a playground. The park has an open field where neighborhood kids can play soccer or baseball. There is also a picnic shelter where residents can gather with family or friends for an outdoor meal. The neighborhood has several walking trails that wind between properties and connect to multiple streets, giving residents room for a morning jog or a relaxing evening stroll. With the community’s location near undeveloped areas, it’s common to see wildlife while walking the trails. “We actually have wild horses in the area, and it’s not uncommon for them to walk up to the open space. They’ll just stand there and graze on the grass. We have a couple of foxes that people see all the time and lots of deer,” Poindexter says. In the neighborhood’s north side on Lower Miller Creek Road, Linda Vista Public Golf Course is a popular spot for a round of golf. The nine-hole, par-29 course offers daily rates and season passes, allowing residents to play as much golf as they want.

Easy commutes to downtown on Brooks Street

While it offers convenient access to Missoula, Miller Creek is far enough away from the city’s center that it has no public transit options. Residents drive to get where they’re going around town, and Brooks Street, just north of the neighborhood, makes it easy to get around. “It takes me about 15 minutes on a real busy day,” Poindexter says about the drive from Miller Creek to downtown. “You can get to Walmart in about five minutes. But you’re still far enough out that you feel secluded.” Brooks Street is the main route people will use to get downtown. Reserve Street is also nearby, and residents can use this road to head north to Missoula Montana Airport, about 10 miles away. Community Medical Center is the closest hospital, about 3.5 miles north.
