Asheboro
About 30 miles south of Greensboro, Asheboro has been dubbed the “Heart of North Carolina.” Named after Gov. Samuel Ashe, the city’s location along a railway line and its central position within the Tar Heel State ushered in an era of economic growth starting in the late 19th century, spearheaded by the textile and manufacturing industries.
