Sylacauga
Known as the Marble City, Sylacauga is famous for its rocks — some from this world, some from another. In 1954, it was the site of the only known meteorite to strike a person. The ill-starred victim survived mostly unscathed, and the fragment is now in the Alabama Museum of Natural History at the University of Alabama, about 2 hours away.
