A sprawling California mansion overlooking a famous golf course and the Pacific Ocean has sold for a record-breaking price.
Known as the “Masterpiece on 18,” the 10,500-square-foot house sold for $45 million, marking the priciest home sale in Monterey County’s history, according to Tim Allen Properties Team, the brokerage representing the sellers. The deal closed Monday.

The house is one of five properties on the 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links, a renowned course known for hosting the U.S. Open more than any other course in the country in the past 50 years. The course is set to host seven more men and women’s opens in the next 20 years.
“The allure of unparalleled amenities and spectacular ocean views awaiting the new owners has propelled this closing to an all-time record high for Monterey County home sales,” listing agent Tim Allen said in a statement. “We extend our warmest wishes to the new owners as they enjoy their awe-inspiring modern home in this beautiful location.”
Pebble Beach is considered “one of the most exclusive residential areas” in Monterey County, according to CoStar’s Homes.com. Local agents said it’s a hot spot for retirees looking to enjoy beachside living with access to golf amenities.
The median sales price in Pebble Beach is $3 million, significantly higher than the countywide average of $730,000.
