A two-story house in New York City that President Donald Trump called home as a child sold in March at a 60% discount from the previous purchase price.
The property at 85-15 Wareham Place in the Jamaica Estates section of Queens sold for $835,000 to Brooklyn-based 1388 Group, according to public records. The new owner took out two mortgages with New Jersey-based lender Accolend to buy the property and finance renovations.
1388 Group bought the Tudor-style home from another limited liability company called Trump Birth House, which had owned the property for eight years and purchased it for $2.1 million.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom home served as an Airbnb rental for a few years but has since sat vacant and become a neighborhood eyesore, according to local media reports.
An attorney representing 1388 Group, Jincong Wu, did not immediately respond to a request to comment Friday, nor did the company's registered agent, Huisha Zhen.
Jamaica Estates features older Tudor and Cape Cod style homes with Mediterranean design. Colonial houses are also common in the neighborhood, and current listings for that style range from $950,000 to $1.4 million, according to Homes.com. Prices for newer houses in Jamaica Estates start at around $1.8 million and can go up to $4 million.
To be sure, Trump has not been a New York resident since 2019 — the year he switched residency to Florida. Still, the president has shared positive memories of growing up in the Big Apple. In a 2015 interview with the New York Times, Trump described Jamaica Estates as "safe" and "very family oriented."
"Different parts of Queens were rough; this was an oasis," Trump said.
The New York Post earlier reported the sale.
