Soon after agent Maria DelBoccio listed what she calls the “Diamond House” in a northwest Chicago suburb, she became inundated with texts and calls from an inquisitive crowd.

The Arlington Heights, Illinois, home’s location off a busy road, paired with its less typical for the area exterior style — including a 14-foot iron double front door, long driveway and hefty square footage — make it stand out. Inside, there are at least 11 chandeliers.

“If you are from the area or northwest suburbs, the house has always been a staple of conversation,” said DelBoccio of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. “It’s extremely unique. It has a little glamour to it. It’s not the staple traditional home we see.”

According to DelBoccio, 2315 N. Arlington Heights Road took several years to build, which created more time to grow onlookers’ curiosity.

DelBoccio said no other home she’s listed in more than two decades of being an agent has received the same kind of attention. She noted several showings are lined up, and an Instagram post exceeded 500,000 views in a few days.

“I’ve never experienced anything like this,” added DelBoccio. “It’s not stopping.”

At $2.49 million, it’s the priciest listing in Arlington Heights, which is 26 miles from downtown Chicago. The village has made headlines recently as the potential location for a new Chicago Bears stadium. The team paid more than $197 million for the 326-acre former Arlington Raceway horse track in early 2023.

DelBoccio estimated the house to be in the top 10 most expensive Arlington Heights listings on record, but she also noted it’s priced more to match the market than the value of the materials and finishes. The Diamond House moniker stems from the numerous chandeliers hanging off the 18-foot ceilings, the silver and white color palette, and the abundance of sparkling decor.

Much of the interior furnishings were internationally sourced, according to DelBoccio. The design and construction of the home were coordinated by the current owners. Furnishings are included in the listing, with prices negotiable.

The ranch-style home has five bedrooms and seven baths across its 6,078 square feet, with a detached two-car garage. The first floor includes a butler’s pantry, dining room, breakfast nook, laundry room, the bedrooms and two walk-in closets off the primary bedroom. The basement floor features a second kitchen, display room, wet bar, dining area, gathering space, second laundry room and movie theater.

“The home can suit a multitude of buyers because it is a ranch. However, it’s large in scale,” said DelBoccio. “We don’t find many ranch-style properties in our area that have this type of square footage, this many bedrooms, this many bathrooms.”

The two other single-family properties in Arlington Heights currently listed above $2 million are 658 N. Scottsvale Lane, a five-bedroom, six-bathroom house with 7,557 square feet priced at $2.17 million, and 326 E. Central Road, at 4,497 square feet, for $2.05 million, according to Homes.com data. Three houses priced at $2 million and above sold last year in Arlington Heights, with the priciest being a 12,539-square-foot property that changed hands for $3.1 million in October.
