Nestled in the Southwest corner of the Hawaiian island of Maui is a luxury enclave home to the likes of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and musician Steven Tyler. Now, a beachfront estate in that neighborhood is for sale, and it’s the first time it’s been available to the public since it was built in 2002.
Known as Casa en Maui, the nearly 22,000-square-foot mansion on Keawakapu Beach is listed for $65 million and will be available for auction from April 10-22, according to Homes.com.
Real estate agents Matt Beall and Josh Jerman of Hawai’i Life Real Estate Brokers have the listing, and Concierge Auctions will facilitate the auction.

The eight-bedroom, eight-bathroom property sits on “the best beach on Maui,” Jerman said in an interview. “And on that beach, it’s in the best location.”
With 100 feet of private ocean frontage, the property is about double the size of a typical lot in the area, he said. The house also includes multiple terraces and a bright blue lap pool.
More than that, the property’s design and architecture is an anomaly for the area, according to Jerman. Designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta in 2002, the modern house is filled with vibrant colors and geometric patterns.

“There’s sort of a uniform look to many houses,” Jerman said of homes in nearby Wailea resort. “This home, being that it's adjacent to the resort area versus being in the resort, allows for creativity of design.”
Jerman said buyers can buy the house furnished with a few exceptions.
'Yellowstone' actor is selling the house
Beyond its size and location, Casa en Maui also boasts connections to Hollywood.
The property last traded hands in 2021 for $45 million when retired actor Barret Swatek of "Yellowstone" and "American Housewife" and her husband, retired hedge fund CEO Adam Weiss, purchased the estate, according to Homes.com and Jerman.

At the time, media reported that it was the second priciest home sale in Hawaii history.
“The celebrity aspect is what has garnered some attention,” Jerman said in an interview. “It’s a great way for the home to be able to be introduced.”
Jerman said the couple is selling the property to move closer to family and friends after giving birth to their daughter last February. They opted to sell the property via auction to give them better control over the timing of the sale, he said.

The property’s current ownership could also be a signal for what kind of buyers will be attracted to the property, according to Jerman.
“It has appeal for one who would be a celebrity; it has a great bit of privacy," he said, "but [it is] also for other types of buyers, CEOs, and even a more corporate buyer given the number of bedrooms it has.”
