About This Home

This one of a kind home was originally built in 1931. Hans Berg, an independent furniture designer who learned woodworking though a job with the John Widdicomb Co., bought the house for his family in 1936 and they owned it through 2021 when Jean Stoffer purchased the home. The intricate wood carvings, crown moldings, and innate elegance of the home immediately drew her in and inspired her vision. As the third owner of this lovely home, Jean took the way people lived in 1931 and transitioned it to how we choose to live today. Using only the finest products and her design genius, welcome to a place where character is embraced and enhanced to provide modern luxury.
The first floor was opened, kitchen moving to living room, bedroom turning to family room, and old kitchen becoming a mudroom, closet and powder bath. The original dining room, butlers pantry, and main staircase were preserved to allow a flow I can personally attest, is wonderful for entertaining. Every piece of tile is laid over a heated floor and each room has ethernet cable wired to it. The electrical, plumbing, and HVAC have been updated to provide a high efficiency boiler and Unico system for high velocity air conditioning. Each window has been redone and storms and screens purchased for all.
The second floor was also transformed. The Primary rearranged for a larger bath, walk in shower, 2 gorgeous vanities, a wall of closed shelving, a working fireplace, and a walk in closet. Two bedrooms flank a shared bathroom. A hallway containing stairs to the 3rd floor, a closet with a stackable w/d hook up, and the original linen closets lead to a fourth bedroom with an ensuite bathroom.
The third floor is spray foamed and drywalled for additional opportunity. The lower level contains a three stall garage, pub room, storage/mechanical room, and original laundry room. Options will be given to a buyer if they would like pub room, basement hallway, and attic areas finished out at additional cost, each option created by Jean herself.
