Erin Huff first entered the real estate market in her 20s, harnessing her construction skills to flip properties. That foray ended abruptly when the Great Recession left her with a devalued portfolio and expensive commercial loans. Although she was forced to leave the market, her interest in real estate remained, and it wouldn’t be long before she returned more empowered than ever.
Erin is now an award-winning industry professional, called to help people realize the same dream she was chasing: to own California property and build a legacy. She has been licensed since 2010, and, before founding Backyard Real Estate, she was ranked four times among the top 15% of agents in her previous brokerage’s national network.
As a teacher and former life coach who loves to connect with and support others, Erin’s career has always entailed educating her clients about financing options and recommending low-effort, high-impact property improvements that increase home values. She stands ready with authentic words of encouragement that instill confidence in her clients as they take some of the most significant steps of their lives.
Erin is skilled at helping first-time and vulnerable homebuyers enter the market, and she’s a Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist (CPRES) who works with trust attorneys in family property sales. But Erin’s motivations are deeper than transactions. She focuses her energy on creating stability through real estate. Her talent for finding innovative home solutions for clients — from helping them structure financing to negotiating top dollar for their homes — has garnered five-star reviews, some of them from people who are the first in their family to own a home.
In 2018, Erin partnered with her cousin and close friend, Josh Mathe. Seeking to serve, the business partners enjoy working with a wide range of clients and bring a combination of creative energy and expertise to every transaction. They created Backyard Real Estate together in 2021.
In her free time, Erin cultivates homestead-related hobbies like gardening, canning, and sewing. She’s also a regular volunteer at her daughter’s preschool — she and her husband have headed up several renovation and building projects there. Erin feels the same reward in bringing the director’s dream for the kids to fruition that she does when helping her clients. When you work with Erin, she won’t just encourage your dreams; she’ll help you achieve them.
