My name is Mariahya Christensen, I grew up in a large family with five sisters, three brothers, and 19 first cousins on my mom's side. I lived in South Minneapolis, MN, where my grandparents were well-known for their investments in multi-family properties located in various neighborhoods. They utilized these properties to provide affordable housing for members of our family, including the duplex where I grew up.
Of all the properties owned by my grandparents there was one that stood out the most. A huge white single-family home that spanned 4 levels, 9 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 5,370 square feet of space where we gathered for holidays, special family events and even sleepovers with all my girl cousins!
When I was a child, my grandmother ran a daycare business for her grandchildren in this home after school. As we grew into teenagers, this home became a refuge where we could escape and relax when life felt overwhelming. Even as adults, we returned to this home for safety and stability when the challenges of adulthood became too much. Our entire family has made cherished memories there, especially my cousins and me. As a real estate agent today, I am grateful to have a portion of that property as my 'home office away from home'.
My grandparents prevented homelessness for over 30 family members, including myself, by providing accessible housing for safety and stability through homeownership. I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to be their grandchild. Their example has driven my passion to provide resources, education, and opportunities for the community to achieve the same level of safety and stability through homeownership of their own.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you!
Peace and Love,
Mariahya M. Christensen
