Melinda Nix

Melinda G. Nix is a Senior Global Real Estate Advisor and Associate Broker in the Manhattan office of Sotheby’s International Realty. A longtime leading broker with the firm, she ranks among its most-respected agents. Melinda joined Sotheby’s International Realty the day of the stock market crash in 1987. She sold her first apartment two weeks later.

Over these many years, she has consistently achieved record sales prices for her sellers and negotiated favorable buying transactions for her buyers. Whether buyer or seller, nearly everybody she works with is a past client or the friend or referral of one. Melinda has represented two generations of some families and looks forward to extending this record to three in the near future.

Discretion is Melinda's middle name. During the buying and selling process one must necessarily share the most intimate details of his/her personal life and finances. Not once do these details pass her lips. The information stops with her. Whether negotiating multiple bids in a hot market or dealing with the challenges of a down period, Melinda Nix is the broker you want on your side.

A lifelong student of human nature, Melinda is a psychology graduate (B.A., Occidental College) trained social worker (M.S., Columbia University) and worked for many years as an on-air television reporter in New York, Washington D.C., and throughout Asia while based in Tokyo. This national and international experience has served her well in two aspects of her lengthy real estate career. She is able to quickly provide her clients with referrals to the top real estate professionals in the extensive Sotheby’s International Realty national and international network when their buying and selling needs lead them outside her base in Manhattan. Also, just as a journalist always wants to be first with the story, Melinda seeks to be first to find out about new listings and good buyers just entering the market.

She is the mother of two grown daughters, Christina and Jessica Saar, both of whom she raised in Manhattan and who attended its fine nursery and private schools.
