The Ville Homes for Sale

The Ville, located about 4 miles north of Downtown St. Louis, is a historically Black neighborhood known for a few notable stars who lived there for a time, including Chuck Berry, Tina Turner and Arthur Ashe. The area is undergoing revitalization efforts led by local organizations aiming to restore its historic charm. The community has a mix of single-family homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s, including bungalows, Dutch Colonial Revivals, shotgun houses and larger American Foursquares. Some newer bungalows are going up on vacant lots left empty from demolished homes. Residents can easily access MetroBus stops for convenient travel around St. Louis. For shopping and dining, Dr. Martin Luther King Drive offers local options, such as Jaden’s Diner, known for its soul food, and Firehouse 282, a popular bar and grill with patio seating. Harlem Tap Room is where residents head for nightlife and music. It stays open until 3 a.m. six days a week. The Tandy Recreation Center, a historic site, offers amenities such as an indoor pool, gymnasium and various youth programs, including football and basketball leagues. The rec center also offers a boxing program, following in the footsteps of former heavyweight champion Sonny Liston, who lived in The Ville for a time. The Ville is a neighborhood with a rich history and ongoing efforts to enhance its community and infrastructure, making it a unique place with rich Black history.
