GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Well designed, thoughtful, program that includes core academics, music, and extracurricular activities. Teachers are engaged and available to parents when needed. My child graduated from 8th grade in June 2019 and her experience was more than I could have hoped for - they embed diversity and respect, and have simple steps to ensure the teachers and others have an eye on the development of each child (soon to be adult).

Gender education to 1st graders is something I really don't agree with. I was very surprised to hear my so telling me about his teacher asking if they felt like girls and boys and suggesting things that certainly are out of the scope of teachers to ask or talk about with 6 year olds.

I worked at AoA for the first 10 years, and recommend it highly. I've never seen a more dedicated staff who tries new things, works on themselves as educators, and listens to kids and parents. The result is an intensely caring community. I got to see the inner workings of their COVID response, and c...
