GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I feel that my experience with Amarillo High has been pretty decent so far. Though some of the things the school focuses on are not as important as they should be, sometimes it seems that they focus on what the students are doing and controling them rather than focusing on education. I do not feel that hardly any of my teachers have prepared me for college.

I had a pretty good experience at my high school. There are plenty of activities for everyone to find something they love. My best experience about this was being part of the publications teams as they have both yearbook and newspaper. I have had no bad experiences that were notably. I would like to see a better hang out spot for lunch and before school.

My complaint is with the teachers and their lack of concern to put grades in skyward. They put 0’s in until the work is completed, which results in failing grades. Then when the student turns the work in the teacher still leaves the grade at a 0. It is very frustrating to the point where the student...

Excellent teachers at AP level. Daughter more than capable to handle college when she graduated. Most teachers are dedicated and love what they teach. Amarillo High offers many programs for other interests as well.

I have two students that currently attend AHS. Both of them have had an excellent education with fantastic teachers. I wouldn't want them to go to any other school in Amarillo. They will both have one year of college credit when they graduate. Their teachers go over and above to ensure a quality edu...
